My St. Patty's Day Mani!

Good Mornin' Lovelies!

I had this awesome mani planned for St. Patty's Day!  I was going to do a base of Zoya Tangy, and then get out 5 or 6 of my favorite greens and freehand clovers all over them!  It's looked AWESOME.....in my head.  To say that the nail art force was not with me last night is pretty much the understatement of the year.  I already had Zoya "Tangy" on so all I had to do was add the clovers.  I even knew exactly how to paint them on easily (like how i make free hand hearts, using dots) but no....no such luck.  Maybe it was cause I was tired.  More likely it was because we had just finished doing a massive arm workout and my tris, bi and forearms were not functioning properly! the clovers came out liking like vaguely cloud shaped blobs and flowers.  POO!  After doing 3 of them, off they came.  I sat, fuming, trying to come up with something fun to do, and trying to convince myself a green skittle mani was NOT the answer....so not creative enough!
Then it hit me!  "Do a green version of that 'pink tie dye' mani you did and liked so much"  SWEET idea self ...  :::pats self on back:::

So I start...First nail looks great!  SWEET this is SOOOOO gonna ROCK!
second nails sucks......
take it off, starts over....still sucks.....
I try once more and still no!
It's like the polish didn't want to stick to the base color, and they were all Zoyas!
So I took it all off and started the skittle.
Got the first coat on one hand and hated it!
The colors so did not go well!

:::insert me silently screaming:::::

Then it hits me...."I bet I have a clover Konad image and dont even know it!"

Yup, you guessed it...I did!
Thanks to the Lovely Nihrida!  It was on a Fauxnad plate she sent me!  THANK YOU!!!!

So I start with my base, Rimmel "Camouflage" and while the second coat is drying, I drip a drop of polish on the chair I'm sitting in....which totally sucks cause it's my Mother-in-laws old chair, so I know Rob will be disappointed if it gets messed up!

So I dive for the Q-Tips and the remover and bump into the cotton balls and get bits of fuzz all over a few of my nails!  GRRRRR

I got almost all the spot off the chair, there's just a barely there ring from where the remover and thinner bled the polish out.

By this time I'm so tired of things going wrong I just wanna cry!  But I keep thinking.."I gotta have something to post tomorrow for St. Patty's Day!!!!"

So I pick out as much fuzz as possible, redo 1 nail and hope that the Seche takes care of the rest.

I stamped the clover fauxnad image (a similar one can be found on Konad plate M22, a plate I dont have) using Sally Hansen Insta-Dri in "Lickety Split Lime" on each ring finger.  I just didn't have the patience, energy, or sanity to do anything else!

Camouflage looks way too emerald here in the pic!
It has a emerald base, but then has olive and gold shimmer bits in it that really show!
If you love green, go get it!  I have a bunch of greens and don't have any quite like it!

Well, that's the saga of the St. Patty's Day Boring Mani!

It shoulda been better, the original idea "coulda been a contenda".....but alas, it was not meant to be!

I hope you all have a wonderful day!

Gorgeous greens!! I just remembered I have a shamrock fauxnad also that I had totally forgotten about (and bought just for st. patty's day so I'm glad I remembered it!).

Great green combo - the shamrock is so vibrant!!

The end result looks good though - sometimes you just can't beat clean and simple!

Im sorry you had such a rough nail night last night, you're much more patient than I am :) But Your mani turned out perfect either way, very clean simple and makes the St Pattys Day point! I love it.

(((big hugs))) for you sweetie. Thanks for all the effort you made to get this posted. I think I just would have said the heck with it after the first mess. The tie-dyed look would have been amazing. This is pretty. I'll have to check and see if I don't have that Sally Hansen. I have to find my greens and do something. Hope you don't mind that I borrowed your (((hugs))). I just use different brackets. Lots of love to you for all of your hard work.

I love your shamrock - and I used the same base color for mine this week (to be posted later today). I had that "freehand shamrocks" idea too, and decided against it...glad I did.

That stamp worked really well - love it! :-)

To All...

Thanks for all the kind words! I'm glad everyone likes the design! I figured if you're anything like me you might enjoy a play by play recount of the fail night...It helps to know your not along when things go south! LOL

and Lucy, my dear, I'm happy to share {{{HUGS}}} with you!
oh and ps...I gotta 'nother tie-dye mani commin' up soon!

Freehand shamrocks sound so much easier than they are LOL ... like you said they're only several hearts together ... but when you put them together you get a lumpy *thing* on your nail.

My solution was finally to use hearts not quite touching each other, but by that time it was late enough, and I was sleepy enough, that they still came out kind of wobbly. But I'm happy with what I ended up with (I guess ... I'll post later & probably be irritated all over again when I see close-up pics LOL).

I swear if I had the Konad plate with clover on it I would have taken that way as an easy out =) I think your final mani is still very cute, understated but still very festive!

Your nails look fantastic. A gf sent me Rimmel - Camo for my birthday and it didn't look too awesome in the bottle, but I was shocked at how awesomely emerald it was on my nails.
Since I work in an office I'm going to try to get away with Jade is the New Black as my St. Patty mani. *sigh* Can't wait for my konad set to arrive.

I was actually helpful!? Wooohoo! I love it how you kept it simple. :)

P.S.: How exactly do you scream silently? LOL =)

Oh girl. *huge hugs* Hahaha, let me tell you, all of my arts are fails, and I feel you on the silent screaming. Actually, with me it's usually loud cussing. I think you did great!

Ooh Christy, that's too bad, St. Patty wasn't with you on that one? Lol. But glad you made something good and gorgeous out of all that. That green sure breathes life, doesn't it?
