Good Morning Lovelies!

Long time no see!

Between going out of town, and fighting this "I'm so lazy I dont even wanna reach 2 feet away to grab a polish bottle to paint my nails" issue I'm having, I've been struggling to have things to post for ya.!

But today I have something that excites me like nothing has in a long long time!

The China Glaze Crackle Glaze polishes!

All the swatches you will see were done as full manis and do include top coat. Without topcoat the crackles appear satin or matte.

I wanted you all to be able to see the polish over many other colors to maybe spark some interesting combo ideas. So let's take a look shall we?

Cracked Concrete

Perfect name for this wet concrete color!

You can see the difference that thin application (pinkie) vs thick application (middle) makes.

And please ignore my atrociously bubbly top coat! It's old and I need new badly!

Lightening Bolt

This one you gotta watch when you apply it! You gotta remind yourself that it DOESN'T need to look opaque when applied fresh, cause as it crackles and shrinks it becomes opaque. So be sure to apply thin, even though it seems you will see the base thru the white, cause you wont when it dries!

Am I the only one who seems this layered over pastels as an awesome Easter mani?

Fault Line

The most challenging to apply of them all. Not sure if it is the shimmer that causes it or what, but this one you really NEED to apply very thin to get nice crackles like in my pinkie nail.

Black Mesh

Absolutely LOVE this over that neon Yellow!

Great formula, and very easy to apply!

Crushed Candy

Love the color on this one!

It looks great over the black and purple!

Broken Hearted

I had taken this off by the time I saw the pics and for some reason they all came out blurry for this one!

This is another one that you have to be a bit more careful to apply it thinly to get a good thin crackle effect.

I had intended to also grab pictures of all the cool effects you can get from different application techniques, but that will have to be a different post!

I highly recommend these, as they are so much more user friendly than other crackle polishes I have used in the past.
The two biggest rules to follow when using these is to be sure your base coat is 100% dry and to apply the crackle as thin as possible for maximum crackle effect.

Piggy Paint Review

Hey there Lovelies!

I know I said I'd post this Friday, but Thursday night was kinda crazy and I wasn't able to get the pictures finished.

This brand is awesome! I love the story of how and why it was created, and the fact that it is Non-Toxic!

"Natural as Mud" is their tag line!

If it thickens, you thin it with water!

I was sent two of their polishes to review.

LOL

2 coats.

Maybe coulda used a third.

I also got their Glow in the Dark polish called "Radioactive".

Sadly I couldn't get a picture of this glowing on the nails, but I did manage to get a picture of it glowing in the bottle:

You may have to move around and get the right angle to see the glow...I could see it nice and bright on my computer at home, but it's barely showing on my work computer!

It glows so nice and bright on the nail too, it's really a shame that I couldn't get a picture of it.

I really LOVE this brand.

Word of wisdom though...dont do what I did and try to top it with regular topcoat! As soon as the topcoat hits the polish it gets thick and bubbles like crazy as it dries!

Only thing I can sorta say negative about this polish is the fact that it's not very fast drying.

But given the fact that it's so awesome, I can totally overlook that.

I love knowing that when the baby is born, and gets a bit bigger and starts that sucking and nibbling on fingers, that I dont have to worry about what I have on my nails!

Definitely recommend this brand, especially if you have little ones in your life!

Good Morning Lovelies!

I wanted to say a HUGE heartfelt thank you for all the wonderful sweet comments you all left me yesterday!

Next, I wanted to give you guys a big heads up on what you will see here on my blog next week.

I recently cleaned out my stash and have a TON of stuff I need to purge, so lookout!

Now, surprise surprise, a nail look!

I did this two months ago, and actually wore it when we went to visit my sister at school and tell her she was gonna be an aunt!

I sadly can't remember what I used! but I'll take a a guess and hope I'm right.

Base i know was a pink franken I made by mixing China Glaze "Rich & Famous" with Sinful "Dream On"

The dots were done using OPI "Who the Shrek are You", H&M "Bella's Choice", and the purple I am completely unsure about! Maybe China Glaze "Spontaneous"???

I just doted the designs on using a toothpick.

I got the idea from a look I saw on Nails Mag's 365 days of nail art blog

The Reason I've Been So Absent!

Hey there Lovelies!

Today I am finally gonna answer the question of why I've been so absent lately!

It is true that I have been ridiculously busy all day every day....but there is another reason.....

I havn't been feeling too hot for a while now.
I've felt totally run down.
No energy at all
Just exhausted all the time.
And being perpetually wiped out has totally killed my desire to do my nails.
Most of the time I'm walking around with bare nails! Shocking, I know!

I'm sure by now your wondering what has me so wiped out....

Well.....

I'm PREGNANT!!!!

I'll be 17 weeks on Friday!

And I'm due July 8th!

So yeah that's my excuse!
I go home, make and eat dinner and pretty much literally pass out on the couch! LOL

I'm starting to feel alittle peppier now that I've hit the Second Trimester and hopefully I'll be back to my old nail obsessed self soon!

I do have a few things to show you and ALOT that I want to do, as soon as I get the energy!

So I hope you guys will stick with me while I try to manage it all!

Born Pretty Store Crackle Polish Review

Good Morning Lovelies!

Back again for another fun review!

Today I have some fun crackle polishes from Born Pretty Store!

I chose a few polishes to try as base coats. On both hands I did the pinkies white, ring fingers were neon green, middle fingers were neon yellow, index fingers were bright pink and thumbs were silver chrome topped with holo glitter.

Black Crackle

(excuse the tipwear)

You can see the big difference coat thickness makes.

Pinkie was 1 thin stroke, and the ring finger was a thicker coat.

Purple Crackle

I love the color on this one, however I was very disappointed that it was as translucent as it was.

As you can see over the yellow and green it looks black :(

But it is super pretty over the white and silver, so keep that in mind if you pick this one up.

Make sure when you apply these that you wait for your base coat to dry thoroughly.

And let it finish crackling and dry completely before topping with topcoat.

I love both of these! Just wish the Purple was as opaque as the Black is so you could wear it over a larger variety of colors, and still keep it looking that gorgeous purple color!

Barielle "Holiday Hustle" Review

When you combine the fact that i leave for work, and get back home from work in the dark, with the fact that the weather has been less than stellar for photos, this was the result. I got tired of waiting for good sun so I just took these.

Snow & Ice!

Good Morning Lovelies!

Today I have a frigid mani to show you!

I actually did this mani last week as we were getting snowed on!

I started with 1 coat of Sally Hansen Insta-Dri in Whirlwind White.

Then I added I coat of China Glaze "Frosty".

Then I grabbed China Glaze "Nova" and starting at my cuticle, packed a bunch of glitter there and then lightly dragged it down toward the free edge. I kept this heavier at the sides of the nail. I then went back over the cuticle edge to make sure that the glitter was really dense!

This really reminds me of snow and ice!!!

Please exscuse the messed up middle finger! This was day 3 of this mani, so it had taken a beating!

On a side note, I am finally happy with the length of my left hand! YAY! all the nails are the same length, or close to it and all the damage is now past the nail bed line!

So of course it should be no surprise that last night as I was getting the laptop out to edit this picture for you that it started sliding off my lap...I lunged to grab it and immediately knew "there goes a nail!"

I looked and of course my index finger has a split on one side! My nail bed curves so much that if the split continues it will go WAY into the nailbed! GRRRR

So I'll be sporting a fake nail on my Index finger until the damage grows out enough for me to get rid of it without causing bloodshed!

SO ANNOYING!!!!

Christmas Stripes!

Good Morning Lovelies!

I'm back with a fun Christmas Mani for you!

I have a decent excuse as to why I've been so absent lately, and I will explain it to you all after Christmas, promise!

In the meantime, how about some nails!!!

For this mani I applied my base coat of launchpad (best thing EVER, you'll be hearing more about this soon too!).

Then I broke out my french mani guides and stuck two on each nail, going diagonally across the nail, and leaving a gap between each one that was about the same width as the strip itself.

Then I painted a thick coat of China Glaze "Emerald Sparkle" on each nail, and immediately removed the stickers.

I then went back and using the bottle brush, painted the bare stripes with China Glaze "Ruby Pumps"!

And boy did it look great!

Then I added a coat of top coat, and BOO, HISS, it had gotten so thick that it bubbled up like crazy! To add insult to injury, it smeared my ring finger!

So, on a whim, i broke out a metallic gold striper I have from Art Club, and painted a thin line between each green and red stripe. The fact that it was over bubbly, bumpy topcoat made this look terrible, though I can tell it would have looked nice had it not bubbled!

Even though It's not a very good pic, and there are TONS of gross bubbles, I will share a pic....

Try to turn a blind eye to all those bubbles!

I was too tired at this point to attempt to redo the mani!

Milani Nail Art Lacquer Stripers

Good Morning Lovelies!

Today I have some awesome nail art stripers to share with you from none other than Milani!

I wanted you to see what each of the colors looked like over black, white and a natural nail, so excuse how weird me base coat looks, lol!

First up, the Glitters!

The thin stripe is just 1 swipe of the brush, the thicker line is 2 swipes.

And the cream colors:

As much as I love glitter, These colors are so nice and bright I think they are my favorites!

While some of the colors are thin and don't provide total opacity at 1 swipe, the fact that the brush is so nice and thin makes it easy to go over the same line twice without making it thicker. I made it thicker purposefully in the pics, just to differentiate the two lines.

Milani 3D review

Today I have some awesome Milani polish to show you!

These are from their 3D collection. And they are holos! WOOHOO!

Now, they are not linear holos, more like scattered holo, but I love them.

I do want to say that sadly my camera didn't want to pick up the holo effect very well. They are way more holo than my pictures show. I am sorry I couldn't capture their beauty.

This polish is super hard to describe, for me at least. It seems to be a green base with irregular gold flake glitter, but comes out looking like a foil. It's really beautiful! and it not hard to remove, like regular glitters are.

Wishlist Red

Red glitter in a red jelly base!

Enchanted Holiday

LOVE this!

This is jam packed with normal gold glitter AND tiny jagged flakes of gold glitter.

2 coats on the middle and pinkie nails.

3 coats on the index and ring finger nails.

Now....for a nail art junkie like myself, the most exciting part of this is the stickers that come with the polish:

Wanna see a few simple ideas on things you can do with these awesome polishes and nail art things?

This kit is so fun!

Polishes are all great, with the exception of snowflakes....it is a bit thick, as glitters can sometimes be.

I think a few drops of thinner would fix that right up.

It did however dry pretty quick for being such a thick consistency...and hey, considering it's a glitter that had good coverage at 2 coats... I don't so much mind the thickness!

I especially love that the gold glitter in Magic Elf and Enchanted Holiday is that irregular, almost jagged, flake, glitter that lays so nice and flat!

I highly recommend this collection!

Formula on these was great, which is usual for Nubar.

These aren't really my taste, just because I tend to go for crazy, out there, colors more often than neutrals, but there are alot of women who cannot wear crazy shades and colors to work, or simply dont like them, so I definitely think it was nice, and smart, of Nubar to create this collection.

2 Thanksgiving Manis!

Well I found time to post these up real quick! YAY!

Here's a easy layered mani and a more complicated Konad mani!

First up...the easy peasy one!

This is 2 coats of China Glaze "Goin My Way?" topped with 1 coat of Sinful Colors "All About You"

Now...the more complicated one!

I did a similar one last year and loved it so much I just had to revamp it for this year!

I originally got this idea from the Gorgeous Nihrida....Her version is better!

I started with 1 coat of Nubar "Hot Yellow" topped with 1 coat of Sinful Colors"Tapping Nails"

I then stippled on China Glaze"Thunderbird", China Glaze"Goin my Way"", and Sinful Colors "Show me the Way" , using the tip of the brush that came with them!

That's it my Lovelies!!!

I actually love this polish!

Slightly dusty rosey-pink sequins and fine glitter in a clear base.

4 thin coats.

This collection, like every other Lippmann I've every had my hands on, is a real winner!

And I love that theres soemthing for everyone! From kinda edgy, to super girly!

And the formula was superb, as is usual with Lippmann!

I really need to apologize for my absence!

On top of all the usual work craziness, I'm also ridiculously exhausted from last weeks efforts to make a race. We wanted to run both cars, so it wound up meaning alot of time and energy and many nights of not much sleep. I'm still tryin to recuperate from it all and can't seem to catch up. Because of the exhaustion, I'm just in a "blah" mood and have been havign a hard time posting.

ManGlaze Review

Hey Lovelies!

Today I have something awesome to show you!

Many of you know ManGlaze, but for those that don't let me tell you something...this stuff is amazing!

Not only is the product some of the toughest, were resistant polish I have ever happened across, but the owner Marc, is one of the sweetest guys EVER! But don't tell him I'm out here ruining his rep!

Seriously, how many companies do you know where you can go on Twitter or Facebook and actually talk to the owner of the company? I have never happened across one! And to me, that alone speaks volumes about a company!

You ready to take a look at a few of their offerings?

This creamy white polish has a pearl type sheen to it. Really keeps this from looking like whiteout!

(and you gotta love what white polish does for your tan!)

This required 3 coats, but I was doing this while cooking dinner so that could have very well affected my application, lol

Hot Mess

Hot Mess is considered a top coat, but I rather like it alone as well!

This is an awesome matte top coat with super fine silver glitter.

This is just shy of completely smooth. You can just barely feel a smooth texture as you run your finger over it.

2 coats.

Halloween Mani #8: Black and Green Ruffian

Today I am SLAMMED, so This is gonna be a quickie, ok?

Will ya forgive me?

Start with a green base coat.

I used China Glaze "Kiwi-Cool-Ada"

Next add black over it, leaving a gap at the base to create a ruffian.

For those who are intimidated by this, you can always use a french tip guide, or just apply your polish like you normally would, only start higher up the nail!

I used Wet & Wild "Black Creme"

Top off the black with a sweet glitter!

I loved L.A. Girl Rockstar "Supernova" for this.

Done!

Halloween Mani #7: Orange and Black Water Marble

Good afternoon Lovelies!

Today's mani I was super excited about. LOVED the way it came out!

I started by painting a base of 2 coats of Color Club "Wham! Pow!", an awesome neon orange.

Then I filled my cup up with water and dripped in Color Club "Where's the Soiree?" and "Wham! Pow!" .

Once I got enough in there, I started by pulling from the edge toward the center, (I use an striper brush instead of a tooth pick), then I went back and pulled from the center out, in between each inward line.

Just be sure to do a better cleanup job than I did here!

I couldn't find my good cleanup brush, and I'm out of acetone, so this is the best I could do...sad but true!

Halloween Mani #6: Candy Corn

To those who have posted other candy corn mani's...I promise I am not copying you! LOL

I had this idea awhile back, and I guess great minds think alike cause it seems we all had this idea!

So yeah, didn't want anyone's feelings to get hurt, thinking i was stealing. :)

Today's many is quite easy when you break it down.

Step 1 - Paint a white base. I used Sally Hansen Insta-Dri in Whirlwind White.

Step 2 - Place a hole reinforcement sticker on the nail so that you leave a small gap at the cuticle edge, like your doing a ruffian!

Step 3 - Use a bright yellow polish to paint that gap you just created and immediately remove the sticker.

I used Nubar "Hot Yellow"

Step 4 - Using a bright orange polish (I used Nubar - Hot Orange), paint a stripe across the nail, leaving a small white strip at the top like so:

Then just paint a second curved stripe so that it butts up against the yellow, and instant candy corn!

See my pinkie? That's what happens when you go over and over the same spot. It starts spearing the base. Dont be like me...do 2 stripes then fix any errors with a second coat!

Also, leave more white than I did! LOL

The orange looks more neon in the pic then it did in reality!

There ya go! My version of Candy Corn Nails!!!

Halloween (ish) Mani #5: Purple and Green!

Good Morning Lovelies!

Most people think of orange and black when they think of Halloween, But I also think of Purple and Lime green!

And they happen to be one of my favorite combos, so you know I had to do it!

I didn't want to do just skittles, or even a 2 toned french, but I DID want it to be simple, so here's what I came up with...

Start with a black base...I used 1 coat of Wet & Wild "Black Creme".

Next, stick a hole reinforcement sticker on the nail, really in any way you like. I stick it so it left one side and the bottom of the nail uncovered.

Then, using EITHER the green or purple, paint the exposed area of the nail and immediately remove the sticker. Your rhythm should be "place sticker-paint nail-remove sticker-then start next nail"

I wanted it SUPER sparkly, so I used Nubar "Violet Sparkle" and Hard Candy "Sweet P"

Next, add the alternating color to the area the sticker covered.

Finally, stick a cool jewel or rhinestone on for alittle more glitz and top with topcoat!

I used some little black holo stars I got at Sally's!

I alternated the colors on each hand so you can see what each would look like:

My left hand did NOT wanna cooperate and paint like an adult last night, so my right hand got alittle messy!

I also think this is sorta Mardi Gras! What do you think Ange???

Halloween Mani #4: Jack-O-Lanterns!

Good afternoon Lovies!

Today is a busy one so here's a super quick Halloween Mani!

Start with a base of a medium orange color.

I used Wet & Wild "Sunny Side Up"

Grab a black striper, or just a small brush or toothpick and some black polish and paint away!

That's it!

Super easy and simple!

Halloween Mani #3: Nightmare Before Christmas Inspired!

Good afternoon Lovelies!

Today's Halloween mani was inspired by a Christmas (...kinda...)movie, LOL

Ready to get started??? Here we go.

I was so happy with this...until I put topcoat on and it streaked! :(

I wanted to cry!

Let's go by finger shall we...

Thumb:

Apply China Glaze - "Happy Go Lucky" on entire finger.

Once dry, place a hole re-enforcer in the center of the nail and paint the edges that are not covered with a black polish.

Then, paint on the swirly hill using Color Club - "Pucci-Licious", and a small bush

Index:

Paint entire nail with Sally Hansen Insta-Dri in "Whirlwind White"

Then, using a black striper, draw on Jack's head and fill in the outside, then paint on his facial features.

Middle:

Paint entire nail with Color Club - "Take Me To Your Chateau".

Using a small brush paint on Sally's stitches with a medium blue. I used Funky Fingers - "220 Volts"

Ring:

Paint Sally Hansen - "Lickety-Split Lime" on entire nail

Then, using a black striper, draw on Oogie Boogie's head and fill in the outside, then paint on his facial features.

Pinkie:

Paint Color Club - "Pucci-Licious"on the entire nail.

Using a black striper again, just paint on angled stripes!

And that's it!

Halloween Mani #2: Simple Stripes!

Hello Again Lovelies!!!

Today I got a super simple Halloween mani for ya!

It doesn't get any simpler than this!

Ready?

Paint your nails with an Orange of your choice.

I used Sinful Colors "Tapping Nails", a gorgeous orange shimmer with a gold-green flash!

Then grab some black creme polish and paint a stripe right down the middle, from cuticle to free edge.

Follow that up with a stripe on the edge on each side.

I used Wet and Wild "Black Creme" and just used it's own brush to paint! So no need for anything special!

And POW! Instant Halloween nails:

(excuse the dents, i thought they were dry and went to make the bed...yeah, they weren't dry!)

Super easy and very Halloweeny!

Halloween Mani #1: Black Widow

Good Afternoon All!

IMPORTANT NOTE:

Over the next 2 weeks I'll be posting a total of 10 mani's...

5 involving konad/fauxnad/nail art

and

5 basic mani's for those who want to keep it simple.

I also, as most all f you know, took off the acrylics in order to grow out my natural nails.

I was tempted to put on just fake nails (no acrylic) and not do any type of filing or anything (so no damage) so that I'd have a bigger canvas. Sadly I had two tears d on my weakened tips that went down into the nailbed. VERY not comfortable.

So I put on some short tips, just so I'd be able to keep from catching the tears on clothes and allow more of the damage to grow out. I didn't do ANY filing at all, so no damage will be done!

On to today's nails!!!

Start by painting all but your pinkie with red polish.

Paint your pinkie black.

-For the ring finger, stamp or hand paint a few spiders, using black polish.

I used Bundle Monster plate BM13.

Then using a tiny brush or striper brush, paint on those red hourglass shaped onto their little bodies.

-For the middle finger, use black polish and either just the brush from the bottle, or a smaller one, and paint so that you leave a large red hourglass shape showing.

-For the Index finger, use a striper brush and draw lines radiating out from a corner of the nail, using black polish. Then just connect using small curved lines to complete the web!

-For thumb, make a large dot in the middle of the nail, topped with a smaller dot.

Using a black striper, give your spider legs!

Then grab a tiny brush and add 2 red eyes and, of course, that famous hourglass shape!

Halloween Makeup Tutorial: Avatar

Hello Lovelies!

Today I have my last Halloween makeup tutorial.

And sadly this is the one that I was most unhappy with, and the one I was most excited to do! But, like yesterday, just in case it inspires an idea in someone, I figured I'd share anyway!

I have seen many many Avatar full faced masks, and wanted to give an option to anyone who might not want to go that "all out"!

Step 1:
Draw your basic lines and shapes on and around your eyes using a blue liner.
I also used the blue liner to fill in my brows.

I intended to go back and thicken and wing out the bottom and top lines and totally forgot!

Step 2:
Using a thin, flat liner brush dipped in a medium-dark blue, fill in shapes you created with the liner and trace the lines to darken them up.

Step 3:
Fill in the other areas with a blue-teal color.
Add white dots, using a white liner or cream shadow.
(I intended to go over these with an iridescent glitter and totally forgot!)

Step 4:
Using the blue liner you began working with, line and fill in your lips, and then pat the blue shadow over it.

Optional:
Add THESE awesome Contacts! Which I tried and tried to get in for this look, and my fingers and eyes were just not cooperating, so I am very very sorry!!!

But trust me, BOY do they add to this look!

You Know It is the place to get the hookup on awesome contacts!!!

Halloween Makeup Tutorial: Mermaid

Hello Lovelies!

I am currently in Ocean City Maryland for "Endless Summer Cruisin' ", the
end of the season cruise-in!

Today I am gonna share a look I wanted to do cause I don't see it often, and
now I know why....It's HARD!
I wanted to do a mermaid look and it came out ok, but not great.
I'm gonna show you anyway in hopes that it might spark your creativity to
come up with a better version!!!

Step 1:
Apply eye shadow primer followed by a layer of white cream shadow for a
base, on the entire eye lid, lower lid and over your brows to lighten.

Step 2:
(optional) Apply a teal liner from lashline to crease, to help with color depth in the next step.
Then draw over your brows with a blue liner.

Step 3:
Apply a purple shadow the the lashlines and wing it out all the way into the hairline.
Next, apply a teal shadow from lashline to brow and onto the brow, and drag it back into the hairline too.
Then apply a seafoam green just under the brow as a highlight, and in the inner corners.
Finally, apply a medium blue into the crease and blend up for a bit of dimension.

Step 4:
Apply a blue lipstick. I HIGHLY recommend Evil Shades "Fiendish". It's pretty much awesome!
Line your water lines with black liner and apply lashes and mascara!
(yes...yet again, I forgot a pic of this step....I suck at tutorials, lol)

Step 5:
(OPTIONAL)
Apply sequins using lash adhesive or another adhesive made for skin, in an
overlapping pattern to resemble scales.
I did this a different way on each eye, so you have a few ideas!

FISH FACE!!!!

Halloween Makeup Tutorial: Vampy Vampire!

Hello Lovelies!!!

Today I have my FAVORITE of all the looks I've done.

Ready for this:

(my bangs came to a point, sad u cant tell from the angle of the pic!)

Step 1:

Either apply the lightest foundation you can get your hands on, or just mix
the foundation you currently use with an equal amount of cream white makeup,
and apply.

(yes, I forgot to take a pic of this!)

Step 2:

Apply eyeshadow primer followed by a white cream shadow (or gel liner)

Step 3:
Apply a Red shadow over the white base.
I used Evil Shades "Heartless Queen)

Step 4:
Apply a black cream shadow to the crease and blend up.

Step 5:
Apply black shadow in the crease and blend up.
I used Evil Shades "Devil's Bonfire"
Add a touch of white shadow under the brow to highlight.

Step 6:
Apply liner to the upper and lower lash lines and water lines.

Be sure to wing the liner up on the upper lid and down from the lower lash
line, and draw in your webs!

(yes I realize I did 'em backwards! It was way early when I did this...that's my excuse and I'm stickin to it! lol)

Don't forget to define your brows with a dark brown or black shadow,
exaggerating your arch.

Add some nice vampy lashes, to your upper and outer corners of your lower
lashline!

Don't be scared to apply 2 strips to the upper lid for mega drama!!!

Step 7:
Line and fill in lips with a red lip liner.

Then re-line your lips with a black eye liner, filling in the outer corners
of your lips.

Blend the black toward the center of your lips.

Step 8:
For added awesomeness, add sweet contacts to complete the look.
I seriously think these make the look, and with such low prices and FREE SHIPPING there is no reason to not go on over to You Know It and get some for yourself!

Halloween Makeup Tutorial: Sugar Skull

Good Morning Lovelies!!!

Today I am excited to share yet another makeup tutorial!

This look was inspired by the amazing artwork of Sylvia Ji!

Here's what we are after:

Ready? Here we go!!!

Hair note: If you are like me and have straight hair, and dont like wearing rollers to bed, try the method I did here. Divide damp hair into 8 or so sections and twist each section then form into a bun, and secure with bobby-pins. Sleep in them, and take them out when you are ready for curls!

Step 1:

Draw on you eye circles and basic nose shape by first using a eye liner, and then filling with a cream shadow, or cream or gel liner. I used a NYX Jumbo cream eyeshadow pencil.

OH! I also added Lashes before I did anything!

Step 2:

Draw around your face and fill in with a white cream makeup. OR if your like me and your cream makeup was a joke, just use white cream shadow! LOL

Then, Dab black shadow on the black parts, and either white shadow or baby powder on the white parts.

Then draw the bottom portion of your nose on using an eyeliner

Step 4 (and 5 since I forgot to take a pic of just step 4, sorry!!!)

Take a few colored liners of your choice and start doodling away!

Keep in mind that since you are drawing over white, they may come out lighter.

If this is the case, simply go over the lines with a thin, flat liner brushed tapped into shadow, by dabbing along the line you created with the liner.

In case your curious, I used a red lip liner, and black and purple eyeliners.

Realease your curls and add a few flowers and VOILA!

Halloween Makeup Tutorial: Goth Tinkerbell/Dark Fairy

Good Morning All!

Today I have the tutorial that was most requested!

Here's what we are going for:

Let's start with the hair!

First, Brush your hair into a very high ponytail. Then tease the snot out of it:

BIG HAIR!!!

Next, Grab all that hair smoothing it a bit with your hand, and twist it a bit.

Then form a bun, leaving the ends out.

Secure with a few bobbypins, and pull the ends around to the sides and front.

Spray with hair spray to ensure they stick out all spiky and nice!

Then just tease your bangs a touch and brush them over to the side, and spray to secure!

Done:

Now onto the makeup!

Start by priming the eye, then add a black base. I used a NYX Jumbo cream shadow stick, btu you could also use gel or cream liner.

Step 2:

Add a Purple (or a color of your choice) over the black, and along your lower lash line.

I used a purple Hot Topic shadow.

Then Apply a black shadow to the crease. I used Evil Shades "Devil's Bonfire"

Then Add a sparkly silver to your tear duct and lightly under your brow.

And finally define your brows!

Step 3:

Apply liner to the upper lash line as well as waterlines.

Apply your fav false lashes (I used 2 sets on top and a corner of one for the bottom lash line)

Line your lips with black liner and fill in with a black lipstick like Evil Shades "Fateful" a black with purple sparkles! And apply a dab of the purple shadow you used to the center of your lips.

Finally, grab your favorite liquid liner and doodle around one or both of your eyes!

DONE!:

Skittle Water Marble (from the vault!)

Hey guys!

I gotta super quick post for ya today!

This is from way back a month or so ago...

We were moving my sister back to college for her Senior year! I was sad :( and wanted something bright and cheerful to help my mood!

So I decided to do a skittles mani!

But I also wanted to do a watermarble!

So I just combined the two!

I decided on my colors and went thru my stash and pulled 3 of each color, a light, medium and dark.

I water marbled each and here's what we got!

Not perfect, but it came out decent!

Well, sadly I gotta run!

TONS of stuff to do!

HALLOWEEN TUTORIAL INFO AND UPDATE:

I cant wait to share my Halloween Makeup Tutorials and Nail Tutorials!

I'll start posting those beginning October 13th!

I'll be doing 5 makeup tutorials(posting 10/13 thru 10/17),

5 nail art looks on fake nails (so I have more of a canvas to work with)

and hopefully

up to 5 easier looks for those who don't have access to Konad, Fauxnad, or the patience to hand paint!

The nail looks will be posted from the 20th thru the end of the month!

Update (and a request for help!)

Hello All!!!

Thought I'd drop in and give you guys some updates!

FIRST...

I'm tryin to get everything planned out for my Halloween makeup tutorials, and I need your help!!! I have 4 ideas that I really really like, but I want to do 5 looks, so...

In the comments section yell out a look or character you would like me to create! I'll go with the most requested one unless it's something I'm already doing!

Second,

I'd also like some input on what kind of Halloween nail designs you're interested in seeing me do! So please also list any nail ideas or looks you'd like to see for Halloween!

Next,

I got my nose pierced!!! and I LOVE IT! I've been tryin to get a good pic, so as soon as I do I'll post it!

Here goes the big announcement.....

I have taken off the acrylics and am attempting to grow out my natural nails! UGH! I'm dieing with these itty bitty nubbins! Especially since I'm catching edges on things and having to file the rough edge almost every night, so I feel like I'm taking 1 step forward and 2 steps back!

Because of this and my teeny tiny nail beds, it's gonna be kinda slow on the nail art front for a few weeks until I actually have something to work with! LOL

BUT...

I do have some nail art pics in the file I haven't been able to post yet, so you will occasionally see posts of long fake nails! I will also use fake nails to do the Halloween tutorials, I'll just use temporary nails, (so I'm not causing damage by prepping and filing!) cause my nail beds are so tiny I've got no canvas!

And since this is a boring update post, here's a few cute pics for ya!

Today is my Momma's Birthday!

I just wanted to proclaim that I seriously TOTALLY have the best momma ever!

This woman is seriously amazing.

I know alot of people who arent very close to their parents and it always blows me away because I honestly could not survive living farther than a 30minute drive away from her.

She was my first, and is still, my very best friend!

Color Club Fall 2010 Untamed Luxury - Diamond

Hello all!

I'm back today with even more crap-tastic pictures! LOL, seriously, I think my camera is trying to drive me insane! A few of these are close but no cigar, while 1 just would NOT photograph at all!

Let's dive right in shall we?

My reaction when I swatched it sums it up nicely I think : "oOOoooo Sparkly!!!"

From the bottle this one was my absolute fav! I was drooling all over it!

BUT...it doesn't work very well on the nail. It comes out to bumpy, and the pink flash kinda disappears.

I tried my "swipe-with-acetone" trick on the Index and Ring fingers, and then topped those two fingers with top coat to bring back the shine. It helped some, and did bring back the flash a bit (even though you cant see it in the pics) but the polish still looks bumpy.

3 coats

LOVE!

This did dry bumpy as you can see, but 1 coat of topcoat woulda fixed up up nice and smooth!

AND it woulda showed off the sparkle better!

This Polish is GORGEOUS!

And my pics of it SUCK! LOL

My camera basically eliminated all the green tones and made it look almost totally blue, which it is not!

I totally intended to layer this over the whole collection for ya, but I ran outa light!

Only complaint is that it's kinda chunky, the flakes dont lay flat...but look at it! I'll deal with the chunky! LOL

This whole Collection is just one big WIN. While I am slightly disappointed in Ms Hautie, there are just to many pretties in this collection to stay bummed!

Color Club Fall 2010 Untamed Luxury - Indulgence

Well Hello!!!

I know, I've been terribly MIA here lately. It seems just when I think the worst is over and it's gonna start getting easier and less stressful...BAM...here comes even busier times.

But that's not why we're here today is it? NOPE! We are here to look at pretty stuff!!!

Today I have half of the Untamed Luxury Collection to show you! This collection is simply amazing! Every time I started swatching a new color I was freaking out about how amazing ti was! I love them ALL!!!

I will state right now that my pictures SUCK! My camera was being a butt head and not cooperating at all and the sun decided to join the "harrass Christy" party and play hide and seek! GRRRR

Here's what we are gonna be drooling over today:

I put the first coat on and KNEW this was gonna be a 3 coater, it was so sheer...but the second coat turned out to be totally opaque!

Have you ever poured a cup of coffee from a pot that's been sitting there a few hours, and added cream?

Ya know that dark, greyed chocolate brown color you see in your mug? That's this polish! LOL

And it ROCKS! This is totally gonna be a go to polish this fall!

Wow, just wow. I didn't want to take this off.

It's amazing! Just like "Nothing but Truffle" it's lit from within!

Deep Wine Creme.

This color I loved but I SO wished it woulda stayed the same color as the first coat.

The first coat was this gorgeous grape-wine shade that I loudly squeeled about(and meant to take a pic of to show you). But the second coat darkened it up ALOT. Still a gorgeous color, but I was kinda bummed it didn't look the same as the first coat.

2 coats.

Formula on these was amazing, as is usual for Color Club!

There was not a bad color in the bunch, they were all amazing and very fall!

Everytime I put on a new color I was "ooOOoo-ing" and "Aaahhh-ing" and squeeling, much to the amusement of Rob! LOL

The ONLY negative I can say is "WWWHHHAAA....why did Ready to Royal have to change so much from coat 1 to coat 2" ??? Again, still pretty as you can see, but not the color that the first coat teased me with.

I'll be back tomorrow with the Diamond half of this collection (and more terrible pics!) LOL

More Neon! And a Question Answered

Hey guys!

Before I get into the nails I want to answer a question that was posed in the comments section about the contacts I reviewed. Emily....All the contacts at YouKnowIt.com that I have seen have a lifespan ranging from 90 days to a year once opened. If you click on a contact to view the price and other info it's life span will be listed there. As to needing to be measured...I'm a contact novice, this is my first experience with them. I suggest filling out their contact us form HERE and asking them about any questions or concerns you may have!

Ok...On to today's Mani!!!

Brace yourselves, there were alot of steps! lol

I started by applying tape (I used regular old tape cause I couldn't find my masking tape) and applying it so that it divided my nail in half diagonally, and covering the half that included my free edge.

Then I applied 1 coat of Sally Hansen Insta-Dri in "Whirlwind White" to the lower half of the nail.

I followed that with 1 coat of China Glaze "Yellow Polka Dot Bikini".

Then I removed the tape and painted the top half with a pink franken.

I then added 1 coat of China Glaze "Fairy Dust" over the pink.

Next, I stamped the Fishnet design from Konad plate M57 just over the pink.

To cover the line where the pink and fishnet met the yellow, I added some stickers I got from Michael's after seeing them on Glammed Up's blog HERE (btw, if you haven't visited this blog you are missing out, to say this wonderful lady is talented is the understatement of the year!!!)

And then I looked at them and thought....the Yellow needs something! LOL

So I grabbed one of the nail art sticker sets I got at rite aid while back, and added some cool nautical stars to the centers of the yellow!

Can we say Nail Art overload???

(Excuse the missing stickers at the tips of the Index and Middle nails, It took me a few days to get a picture)

Random Animal Pics from Vacation!!!

Hey guys!

I really hate not posting so I'm gonna bombard you with some pics we took while on vacation! LOL

We aren't "lay on the beach and relax" kinda people. We like to run around and have fun! We went to a "zoo" (i use that term loosely, not happy with the space some animals had!) and to our absolute favorite place in Myrtle Beach twice...Alligator Adventure! Everytime we go we spend hours there, I love it when you can tell a place really cares about it's animals!

Off to work for me, so have fun looking!

I want this duck so bad I cant stand it! I LOVE DUCKS!!!

That's Rob's hand! these guys cracked us up! They are so used to being fed, you hold your hand up and they open their mouths just waiting for you to drop it in! LOL

LOVE the mani, HATE the picture!

Yeah, I know....I Suck at blogging right now!

Remember w while back when I said things would have to slow down blogging wise, cause life in general and work, had just gotten brutally crazy? Yeah...I wanna go back to that time! Things are seriously insane right now, ESPECIALLY at work! So much so that I wake up with a stomach ache most mornings, just thinking "how am I gonna get all this done". I have to keep myself from thinking about it at night otherwise it starts to effect my sleep. I seriously hope to have this massive changeover done in the next few months, but until then I hope you can all hang in there with me! I enjoy blogging so much, but anymore it has turned into a chore, and I hate that! I want it to be fin again, and it will be, once things quiet down!

One thing that shows how crazy stuff is...I didn't even wish my sister a Happy 21st birthday on my blog! I feel terrible! Every year I make her a cake, it's kinda a tradition....Would you guys like me to post a few pics one day? I'm no Landa, but I enjoy it and she gets a kick outa the crazy stuff I come up with for her! And once in a while (like this year), I actually look at the finished product and am happy with what I see.

We went to see the Expendables this past Friday...
WOW! So Awesome! If you like action RUN and go see it now! Seriously! And once you see it, tell me...Is Terry Crews' gun not the coolest thing EVER!!!! My Favorite seen in the whole movie is his gun scene! LOL

OK...tired of my rambling yet? ready for the mani?

I was super pleased with the way this mani came out! It looked so good! Then I took the pictures and looked at them and was like "Who's mani is THAT???" The pictures look terrible! I am always amazed with just how terrible macro makes a mani look. But, because I know alot of you can relate, I figured I share regardless of how terrible it looks in the picture!

I had an idea to do a tiger inspired mani and here's what I came up with:

I started with a base of Color Club "Best Dressed List"

Then, using a stiff brush, I stippled Color Club "Charity Ball" diagonally at the cuticle, and Color Club "Who Are You Wearing?" at the free edge. ( I actually liked the way this came out better than my attempts with sponging in the past!)

Then I stamped the Zebra/Tiger stripe print Konad image from M57 with Konad Special Polish in Black.

In person it looked more like a gradual fade from one color to the other and less splotchy than the pic makes it look. I had to take the Index finger out of the picture since it took a few days to get this pic, and the index nail had some serious flaws by then!

I will do my best to be back tomorrow with some fun stuff to share!

Neon and Leopard...A Match Made in Heaven!

Mornin' Lovelies!!!

Today I'm gonna show you all what I sported while on vacation!

This is very similar to one I'm done before, only with more colors!!!

I got SO MANY compliments on this. I'm pretty sure it beat out every mani I've ever done in the compliments category! Rob said it's probably his absolute FAVORITE mani I've ever done!

I started with 1 coats of Wet & Wild White Creme (can't remember the proper name)

Then I lined up all my neon pretties and got to work.

I used:

Color Club - Pucci-licious

China Glaze - Pool Party

China Glaze - Sun Worshiper

China Glaze - Yellow Polka Dot Bikini

China Glaze - Kiwi Cool-Ada

I then did stripes of these(the width of the brush), in that order actually, diagonally across the nail, starting at the cuticle with Pucci-licious and working up and out.

I did 2 coats of each.

Then I stamped my old standby...the Leopard print from Konad plate M57, over it using Konad Special Polish in Black.

Does it get any better than that? (well ya know...other than my topcoat dragging the konad?)

Yeah....I came back to a MASSIVE amount of work and no time to gather pics up at night to get them ready for ya! I'm gonna do my best to grab the mani pics and get them ready tonight so I can get them posted in the morning for ya!

I had many of you asking after my last post what color I used for my streak! It's this:

Beyond the Zone - Raspberry Kamikaze

I got mine at Sally's beauty. It's the brand I always used before, so I decided to stick with that I knew! LOL

Now, I thought I'd take a minute and let you guys into my chaotic brain and clue you in on what I got in store for ya in the next few months!

First of all I have been planning for a good while now to do a series of manicures based on one of my very favorite things....Disney/Pixar movies! So be looking for that in the not too distant future!

I havn't decided if I am gonna save them all up and post them back to back, or if I'll just post them as I do them.

Halloween!!!

You all know I suffer from MFPD otherwise knows as Multiple Fashion Personality Disorder, and Halloween just gives me a bigger excuse to branch out and go a little wilder and a little crazier!

Well this Halloween I'm gonna do things a bit differently!

I am gonna do (at least) 5 nail looks, just like last year......

but....

I will also be doing (at least) 5 Makeup looks/tutorials!

I'm pretty excited about the ideas I've come up with so far and can't wait to get started on them!

I've ordered a few things I need to complete these looks and will be getting started pretty soon on them!

I'm thinking of posting the Halloween stuff from October 11th thru the 22nd, in order to give anyone who might wanna use a makeup or nail look, plenty of time to do so. What do you guys think about this idea? Do you think those days are good or do you think they are too early to be posting Halloween looks?

Hair, Vacation and Me on TV!

Hey guys! I got LOTS to share with ya!

First of all... Wanna see a pic of me looking drugged and puffy, sporting my new hair? LOL It was way early when this pic was taken and I'm all weird lookin! LOL

Wanna hear the greatest thing about this ever???

My favorite lipstick combo...Evil Shades Stiletto, topped with a touch of Bane...is a dead on match to my hair!!!

I'm sure some of you remember me talking about the race we went to back in June, which was a taping of the show Pinks ALL OUT. Well I gotta call from the production company last friday and they chose my interview to show on their site. I will be posting the link as soon as it is up!

As to the actual show, which I may very well be in as well (they asked me to ham it up and flex to use during the show)but am not sure...It comes on this Thursday August 12th at 8pm eastern time on SpeedTV/Speed Network! I, of course, Had a terrible break out the day before the race so my face is gonna look terrible and my makeup got melted off by the heat and humidity! SO BE WARNED! LOL

China Glaze "Fight Like a Woman" Review

Well Hello there!

***Quick note: To those of you wanting to know when "Awakening" will be available...I have asked and am just waiting on a reply! I'll let you all know ASAP!***

I'm sure you all have heard by now that China Glaze is releasing a collection for Breast Cancer Awareness month right? Wanna know the coolest part? According to the press release :

"A portion of the proceeds will benefit the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC), an agency of the World Health Organization dedicated to the science of cancer and promoting international collaboration in cancer research."

How great is that?!?!?!

Before I show you swatches I have to apologize! The sun just would NOT cooperate with me! So sadly, I couldn't get sun pics for all of them :(

How sweet is this polish! So pretty and dainty!

The first pic shows it a touch too red.

I have lost my notes and cant remember if this was 2 or 3 coats, sorry :(

Empowerment

Pretty bubblegum pink creme!

My pinkie had an incident so you only get 3 nails, lol!

This was 3 coats.

I LOVE this collection! What it stands for, the name, the colors....everything!

It was just a teensy bit on the thick side, but not so much that it was a pain to work with. I just prefer my polish a touch thinner than this was. And, it's nothing a few drops of thinner wont fix!

This collection will be available sometime in September!

China Glaze Awakening Review!

It's only the beginning of August and I am already SUPER excited about Halloween!!! Why? Cause of these little beauties!!!

This. Collection. ROCKS!!!

Let's take a closer look...

(all of these are shown as a full manicure...so color plus a coat of topcoat)

Mummy May I

Sun:

Shade:

Dark wine base packed with magenta-purple glitter!

This polish is so awesome!!!

So nice and smooth and surprisingly easy to remove!!!

Oh, and to all those dieing from the price of a certain black jelly with magenta sequins and glitter....if you don't mind no sequins, this is not a twin, but a very close sister! And a cheaper sister at that!

This was 3 coats(plus 1 coat of top coat)

Ick-A-Body

Sun:

(sorry, had a brain fart and forgot the bottle in this pic!)

Shade:

Mossy green jelly base loaded with orange glitter.

If you open the sun pic larger and look at the cuticle edge on the pinkie, you can really see that green base well!

The super cool thing about this polish was the fact that the green base almost gives a copper cast to the glitter. This is gonna be amazing for not only Halloween, but for all of Fall!

This one was a bit harder to remove, but I've had worse! Just use the foil technique and it'll be easy-peasy.

This was 3 coats (plus 2 coats of top coat, for a smooth finish)

Zombie Zest

Sun:

Shade:

Murky, swampy green with TONS of gold and (almost lime) green micro glitter!

This....is...AWESOME!

My absolute favorite of this collection! I couldn't stop staring at this polish. It's just so complex! it's murky and swampy, but shimmery and bright, LOVE!!!

3 coats (plus 1 of topcoat)

This whole collection is just a winner.

Formula was great, as always with China Glaze.

These little beauties are just breath taking! While these pics are good, they still don't do this polish justice. They are just so deep and complex! You really gotta see them in person to believe them!
